Through Little Eyes

While sitting outside at my mom's house, Ashlyn made a loud screaming noise....Investigating, I went around the corner to see what the commotion was about and this is what we saw...

A praying mantis. Now as you can imagine, seeing this stare at you for the first time can be quite startling. But once I explained that this was a good bug..she became very interested!

I loved all these pictures and couldn't pick which one to include...so I posted them all!

Sweet and innocent.

The wonder of God's creations.

It always amazes me how children see things in nature. I wish, as adults, we still had that since of wonder.

The great outdoors

So for those of you who know the "inlaw" or "outlaw" side of my family, meaning the Allaires, you will recognize some of the antics in the following pictures. For the past couple of years, we have been trying to have a family reunion of sorts, having a camping trip some time in August. Each year, the person picking the sight changes. This year, Big and Cori Farmer picked out Lehman Hot Springs because it was pretty centrally located for the family members involved. The sight was also picked for it's ATV trails and the all important SHOWERS. Unfortunately, these showers were not working while we were there (actually they worked but there were draining problems). Consequently, they allowed us to swim in the hot springs for free.

This was our group taking advantage of the free swimming. There were four pools there, starting with hot and gradually going down to freezing...

Buck, Sam and Bailey swimming in the pool. Shyanne is going in for the dunk.

This is what Ashlyn called "tent city". There were over 35 people here, that all belonged to us. What a great time we all had. No one had Rvs, just us and nature...

These are the two that started this whole mess. Mom and dad taking a ride together...I am sure coming back from the bathroom.

Dekota got the surprise of his life on this trip. He thought he was going to be the only kid there without a bike or 4 wheeler to ride. Little did he know that Big and Cori had one waiting there for him. It took him a little time to realize that it was actually his, and not just borrowing it for the trip.

This is Big's boy AJ clowing around on the little bike.

Conrad showing us his moves on his quad.

Coyote posing for the camera. The boys sure had a lot of fun with their toys. I even went on a little ride. It was beautiful and so much fun. I am going to have to break down and get us a couple of quads soon...

Grandpa getting in on the fun. These are Megan and Andy's boys (Gifford's Brother) Brody (front) and Westin (back).

Ashlyn and Aunt Cori. We have created a monster. Soon after this picture was taken, Ashlyn got on her helmet and they went for a real ride through puddles and all. Now, of course, she wants one. Thank goodness we have lots of cousins who are willing to share and pass down quads they have outgrown!

Take me! I am ready!!!!

Uncle Big taking the boys for a ride.

I wanna ride too...LOL! Big and Cori acting up.

Gifford's older brother Trey. We haven't seen him since before we got married. This was the first time he has met any of his neices and nephews. Sure glad he was able to come.

Just us girls. (Cori: Big's wife, Crystal: family friend, Me, Marilyn: mom of the boys, Megan: Andy's wife, and Sam: Buck's wife)

Here is a picture of all the "natural grandkids" and a parent. Ashlyn, the oldes is only four. Bailey, the yougest is 1 and the boys fall in the middle.

Ashlyn and Westin having a snack. Chillin' by the fire.

Buck and Bailey. She is just as sweet as she looks.

Camp mascot "Tinkerbell" all tuckered out after a day of chasing squirells.

This was taken after some of us had left (our group included) but it makes for a great picture anyway..Thanx Cori

All in all everyone had a fabulous time. It is going to be a tradition I hope we can keep for years and generations to come. Next year it is Gifford's and my turn to pick a campsite. Hmm...have to think on that one!

Wow...where has August gone?

Sorry it has been a while since I have updated. We have had so much going on lately that I haven't had a chance to really do anything on the blog. We had a yard sale at mom's house the first part of August to try and get rid of some of the stuff we have accumulated through our married (and premarried) life. What a washout...literally. It rained constantly for the first 2 of the 4 days we ran it. Although I sold very, very little, Project Dove in Ontario got a substantial donation. On a brighter note, mom got rid of a lot of dad's records and things that were taking up so much space.
